As someone who was raised by an unapologetic, narcissistic mother, I can tell you that even having that thought, even posing that very question already makes a world of difference. It’s beautiful that you care so much about your kids that you are willing to treat them as equals and admit if you unintentionally maybe did something wrong (if anything). My mother never cared and never apologized, nor would she even ever be willing to listen to me when I tried to express how hurt I was. I’m certain your kids really appreciate your empathy.
